Forum Jargon
Moderator
A member of the dedicated team tasked with keeping the forum running smoothely, doing a range if jobs from moving threads to the correct forum to taking difficult decisions involving applying disciplinary action for members.
Original Poster
The member who made the first post in the thread, which generally means that they are the person who asked the question and to whom advice is directed or from whom additional information is requested. Often abbreviated to OP
Post
A single message left on a thread by a member, whether it contains a question, an answer, or anything else.
Tech Support Guy
This fine forum. Often abbreviated to TSG
Thread
A string of posts, listed in chronological order, which form a discussion on a common theme. On this forum every question starts a thread, and replies to that question (whether to answer the question or to investigate the situation further) continue that thread.

Central Processing Unit (CPU)
The CPU is the chip which handles the majority of the calculations and other processes that allow computers to run programs.
Flash Disk
Flash disks, (also known as flash drives and thumb drives) are removable storage devices most useful for transferring data from one computer to another. They connect to a computer via a USB port and can store relatively large amounts of data.
Hard Disk Drives (HDD)
The hard drive is the large long term storage for holding both data and the software installed on the computer.
Keyboard
The keyboard is one of the primary pieces of hardware used for inputting data to a computer. It is comprised of a roughly flat board with a large number of buttons, with each button coresponding to a letter, number, character or modifier key. Modifiers change how the computer interprets the press of another key, such as using a capital letter instead of a lowercase one. Keyboards can be used for typing, and certain combinations of keys also have special funcitions.

RAM is the fast but short term memory of a computer which stores information about running programs and what they're doing. All information in RAM is lost when the computer turns off.

Universal Serial Bus (or "USB") is a standard that facilitates connecting external devices or peripherals easily and conveniently to a computer or another device, such as a printer. The external device or peripheral is connected using a USB cable, which connects to a USB port.
