Problem: As soon as you log into a Terminal Services session using Remote Desktop, Remote Desktop immediately closes or logs you off.

Solution: This is commonly causes by a problem with the video driver on the computer you're trying to connect to. Specifically, try disabling the nVidia Driver Service:

  1. The following directions are to be followed on the computer you're trying to connect to -- not the computer you're connecting from.
  2. Right-click on My Computer and choose Manage. Then, click on the Services on the left. (Alternatively, click Start and choose Run and then type services.msc and press Enter.)
  3. Find "nVidia Driver Service" on the list and double-click on it.
  4. Change the Startup Type to "Disabled".
  5. Click the "Stop" button.
  6. Click the "OK" button.
  7. Go back to your other computer and try to connect remotely again.

If that still doesn't work, try downloading the latest version of your video card driver.
