Sandbox
From TSG Library of Knowledge
This is NOT a sandbox for testing things out for use on TSG-Library of Knowledge
Sandboxes are used to contain certain programs (usually ons that could infect your system) in a more secure environment of your PC.
There are two different types of sandboxes Virtual Sandboxes and Policy Sandboxes. Virtual Sandboxes like Sandboxie put all of the files needed to run the sandboxed program into a virtual environment so that it can't touch your real OS. It is completely contained and cannot change your system. Policy Sandboxes like DefenseWall HIPS restrict access to certain parts of your OS to protect you, but are not full protection. They are like a firewall for an individual program.
There are also some sandboxes that use both virtual and policy features.
